Description

AI-enhanced passive coherent location radar system capable of detecting stealth aircraft without emitting detectable signals. Uses machine learning to process multi-path returns.

Passive coherent location systems like the DWL002 pose a specific challenge to stealth aircraft that are designed primarily to defeat active radar emissions. By using existing broadcasts from commercial FM radio and television transmitters as illuminators, the system leaves no detectable radar emission that stealth aircraft can home on or evade. The DWL002's export to Serbia created international controversy when Serbia was accused of sharing the data with Russia and China.

Notable Use

Exported to Serbia; reportedly used to track F-117 precursor; strategic air defense role

Investment Implications

CETC is a Chinese state enterprise. The DWL002's export to Serbia has driven US investment in Northrop Grumman (NOC) stealth improvements to address the passive radar threat.
