Description

UK development of an autonomous combat drone to team with Typhoon and Tempest fighters. Features advanced AI autonomy stack for multi-domain coordinated attacks.

The UK LANCA program draws on lessons from the classified Taranis demonstrator which validated stealth autonomous UCAV performance between 2013 and 2015. BAE Systems and Dstl are developing an AI autonomy stack designed from the ground up for high-end contested environments where communications links may be jammed or severed. The program is closely coordinated with the Global Combat Air Programme in which the UK is developing the sixth-generation crewed Tempest fighter.
