Description

Medium-altitude long-endurance armed UAV with AI-assisted targeting and autonomous takeoff/landing. Equipped with electro-optical/infrared sensors and laser designator for precision strikes.

The Bayraktar TB2 achieved global prominence after its decisive use in the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, where Azerbaijan used it to systematically destroy Armenian armor and air defense systems with near impunity. Its relatively low cost of approximately 5 million USD per unit compared to the targets it destroyed demonstrated an asymmetric advantage that reshaped thinking about armored warfare. Baykar has sold the platform to over 25 countries and has deliberately kept prices low to maximize geopolitical influence.

Notable Use

Decisive use in Nagorno-Karabakh 2020, Ukraine 2022, Libya, Syria, Ethiopia

Investment Implications

Baykar is privately held by the Bayraktar family and not publicly traded. Turkey's Roketsan and Aselsan (ASELS.IS) supply components, giving the Istanbul-listed Aselsan indirect exposure.
