Description

Compact autonomous underwater vehicle for shallow-water mine detection and hydrographic survey. Uses AI-assisted sonar processing for anomaly detection.

REMUS 100 operates in water depths up to 100 meters and has a range of approximately 100 kilometers per battery charge, making it ideal for harbor and port survey operations. Its AI sonar processing uses template matching against a database of mine signatures to autonomously classify contacts as mines, mine-like objects, or false positives without operator intervention. The system has been continuously upgraded since its introduction and remains one of the most widely operated UUV platforms in the world.

Notable Use

Operated by US, UK, and allied navies; used in OEF/OIF mine clearance operations

Investment Implications

Kongsberg Gruppen (KOG.OL) through its Hydroid division is the primary beneficiary. L3Harris Technologies (LHX) and Northrop Grumman (NOC) compete for UUV integration contracts with the US Navy.
